Camp is a fun ritual that many kids and teenagers enjoy each summer while on break from school.  It’s a time when they can meet new friends, learn new skills, explore the outdoors, and expand their horizons.  Camp LSSU 2021 is excited to launch an offering of 3-day, 2-night summer camps, being held on Lake Superior State University’s campus and surrounding areas, throughout July and August 2021.  Activities will range for each camp but may include performing experiments in LSSU’s state-of-the-art science labs, wading in Lake Superior to examine macroinvertebrates, enjoying a tall ship sail, or eating s’mores in front of a roaring fire.

Engineering and Robotics Camp – July 26 – 28, 2021

You will actively participate with industrial robots, mobile robots, rocketry, GPS, and 3D printing. With each session, the potentials of these areas are discussed along with their current applications.  With extensive labs and limited camp enrollment of 16, each participant will have plenty of experiences with state-of-the-art equipment. Our hands-on approach along with demonstrations is ideal for a fun experience!  Overnight or commuter options available. For Entering 8th – 12th grades.

Aquatic Ecology and Fisheries Camp – August 4 – 6, 2021

Develop skills in capturing, identifying, and comparing aquatic animal communities in our lakes and rivers.  You will gain experience using basic aquatic ecology and fisheries research sampling techniques and equipment, including fyke nets, seines, D- nets, and water quality meters. Learn the basics of aquatic science with fish and aquatic invertebrate identification and lab experiments. The last day of camp is finished with a tall ship sail out of the Sault!  Overnight and commuter options available. For Entering 9th -12th grades.
